Just skip Spring...go straight to Summer!
So still in NC, and the weather has been totally rad. It's been 80 degrees for days, and the sunburn on my arms has set in!
It's a welcomed change from the cold damp New England style weather that I'm used to this time of year. Today I took it easy. I spent the morning drinking coffee around the house, and eventually kitted up for an hour or so of super easy pedaling.
After returning to the house, I headed into Asheville for some lunch, a coffee, and a very respectable cupcake.
On the way back I stopped at the market and got the old VeeDub washed, which it desperatly needed.
Tonight calls for some more serious couch time, with another long hard day of riding tomorrow.

Waffle House or Bo Jangles...
So whilst in the south, I feel that it's only proper to indulge in some of the finer southern style food. Fast food that is, because I'm unemployed, have a pitbull, and am trying to be cheap. So...with that in mind, if anyone has any experience with fast food south of the mason dixon, give me some input.
Waffle house is first on the list. Next I've heard that the Bo Berry and Cinnimon Biscuits from Bo Jangals, are pretty damn serious as well. I'll report back.
Oh yeah, I raced my bike the other day. It went well, even with the 10h or riding time in the two days leading up to it. I made splits, attacked, got super wet in the rain. A good time was had by all, but that's all I'm writing about that. I mean who seriously wants to hear about bike racing when there's the humorous aspects of the south to dwell on.

Hi...From the South!
Right now I'm sitting in a living room in Fletcher, North Carolina watching the snow fall outside the window. Normally, this would get me down, but no worries, today is a rest day. No bikes outside, perhaps a light spin on the trainer, we'll see how the day goes.
Anyhow, this year instead of heading west, I decided to venture south to do some winter miles in the warm weather, and some racing.
I've been here only a few days, but it has been awesome so far. Whileit's been cold down here, for local standards, I think its almost perfect. Not warm enough to tire you out, but not cold enough to force you to wear five coats when you're out training. The racing yesterday was fun, the guys down here are already going fast, a bit different than New England in February. After long hard days on thursday and friday, I came into the race yesterday with hard training in mind rather than racing for a result. I was happy to make all the splits and find myself in the small front group towards the end of the day. I put in a few attacks, but they were going nowhere fast with tired legs from three hard days in a row. But, things are looking good for the season. I feel good.
Talk to you soon

Im Back...And I Got a Dog!
So I realize that it has been weeks, months even, since I've last updated this blog. Honestly, there hasn't been any real reason for it. I just have not found the motivation to sit in front of the laptop and type about myself. I guess that's what winter does to you.
There have however been big goings on in the old life these days. About a month ago, I got layed off from my job, which was totally lame, but hey, what can you do. I was pretty bummed out about it for a little while, but things are better now, and I've got some things lined up. There will be more to come on that later on...so check back in.
I'm also in the process of re-financing my house. I know this sounds like it's not exciting enough to make it onto an internet blog, but if you were me, you would be excited about it. It means I'm going to save gobs, even piles of money in the long run. Always a nice thing!
Im going to keep this part short, but I have been riding a bunch, and the team for next year (Kenda/Spooky Bicycles p/b NCC) looks like it's going to be awesome.
Now on to the big news. I got a dog. Her name is Scarlett, she's from the pound, and she's a pitbull (Oh no...a pitbull!). Truth be told however, she is a super sweet dog, who had a rough go of it for the first couple years of her life. I'll do a post about her later on as well. But for now, here she is!
